Barcelona lost 2 – 1 to Valencia at Camp Nou on Sunday. The treble winners have now dropped eleven points from their last four games and it seems that their season has unraveled with Champions League elimination.
A few weeks ago, the Catalan giants were the favourites to retain the Champions League trophy along with La Liga title and Copa del Rey. But a dip in form in the business end of the season has put them in a vulnerable condition. According to William Hill, the reigning La Liga champions are now 4/7 to retain the league title.
Barca are level on points with Deigo Simeone’s Atletico Madrid, who are amongst the most likely candidates to win the Spanish league. Atletico are 10/3 to win the Spanish crown at the end of this season. Atletico’s league form is not all bad as they have won five of their last six league fixtures and they can certainly win the title.
Real Madrid are the best in-form team in the league with six wins from their last six matches. Los Blancos are also 10/3 to win the coveted league title. Zinedine Zidane can end up winning the double in his debut managerial season, if his team consistently performs at the same level till the end of this campaign.
